THE MISTER ROGERS VARIETY HOUR

The Mister Rogers Variety Hour

hosted by Jenna Dioguardi, Ali Levin, and Emma Tattenbaum-Fine

featuring Wil Petre

DOORS @ 7 PM

SHOW @ 8 PM - 9:30 PM

The Mister Rogers Variety Hour is a monthly variety show inspired by the kindness, curiosity, and cardigan-stylings of none other than Fred Rogers.

It will feature a wide range of talents, from storytellers, to musicians, to debut characters, live interviews, and cocktails made by the most handsome person we know. It's all the warmth and big feelings of childhood, but with ample booze. Each month we bring you a curation of work (around a chosen theme) from the artists who dazzle us.

Though there may not be much we can count on in this world, we are here to promise you “a beautiful day in the neighborhood,” once a month, every month, on the Lower East Side.

*************

Please note: This venue is not ADA compliant. There will be one small flight of carpeted stairs to access the performance.

HUM!

HUM!

A workshop by Julie Piñero

At 10 years old, Julie became consumed with the question ‘what will happen next?’. When she couldn’t find an answer in her uncertain world, her body gave her one: a hum. But when her hum was diagnosed as mild Tourette’s syndrome, medication took it away. She was left with a question, no answer, and a quest to find something – or someone – to reunite her with that mysterious good feeling.

“Hum” explores the complicated role of shame in treating mental illness, and the humor that exists at the intersection of clinical neurodivergence and everyday anxiety. Rather than getting rid of our tics, what if we imagine a world where tic-ing wasn’t wrong?

Featuring and opening stand-up performance by Ali Levin and Daniel Schreiner accompanying on piano

About The Judiths of Virtuous Dissent:

Theater director, Nessa Norich and her ensemble of interdisciplinary artists channel the fullness of our grief, anger and love into a prismatic vision of a heroine who vanquishes the force of violence with the force of feeling. Judith is a mythological rebel who uses the oppressor’s knife to cut off his head. We parse through the realities of resistance through her story.
